Black Caviar Confirmed For 2013 TJ Smith Stakes – Race Preview

March 26th, 2013

Black Caviar will be having her next race start in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes, which will take place on Saturday April 13, 2013.

The six-year-old just won her 24th career start from as many runs in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley Racecourse last Friday night.

Part-owner Neil Werrett has revealed that the Bel Esprit mare will have her next and final Sydney start in the 2013 TJ Smith Stakes.

“We are definitely going to the T.J. Smith,” Werrett said.

“But Peter (Moody) said he wanted to wait until after the T.J. before making any more decisions on where she races next. It all depends on how she pulls up after each start.”

Black Caviar has been earmarked for a contest between herself and More Joyous in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes, however, Werrett confirmed that start was off the agenda despite the proposed $1 million increase in prize money.

“It is not about the money,” Werrett said.

“From our point of view, if she raced in the All Aged Stakes, she could not go to Brisbane or Royal Ascot. She probably would not race again.

“But all these decisions won’t be made until after she races in the T.J. Smith Stakes.

“It is all systems go to the T.J. Smith.

“If we run in the T.J. Smith then all our options are still open.”
